Where our data comes from
Clapleads Atlas is built from public business registries and openly-licensed open datasets. Most of that data is public domain or CC0 and carries no conditions. Where a source's licence asks for credit, we give it here. Where a licence does not allow us to resell the data, we keep it out of every export.
We credit what needs crediting
Sources under CC BY, the UK Open Government Licence, France’s Licence Ouverte and similar are listed below with their attribution.
We exclude what we can’t resell
Share-alike, non-commercial and contractually-restricted sources are kept for internal search only and never leave in an export.
You can ask us to remove you
Every record can be corrected or deleted through our data request portal.
Public-domain & open data
The large majority of our records come from government registries and open datasets that are public domain or released under CC0 — for example national company registers, regulator filings, and CC0 reference datasets such as GLEIF, Wikidata, ROR and OpenAlex. These owe no attribution under their terms, but we're glad to acknowledge the public institutions and open-data communities that publish them.
Sources we credit
These sources are openly licensed for commercial use on the condition that we credit them. That attribution also travels with every export that includes their data.

Sources we exclude from exports
We use these sources only to improve search inside the platform. Their licences don't allow us to resell or redistribute them, so their records are never included in an export or download.
- OpenStreetMapShare-alike
ODbL §4.4 (share-alike): a derivative of an ODbL database must itself be offered under the ODbL. That is incompatible with selling the merged database under proprietary terms, so OpenStreetMap-sourced rows are kept for internal use only and never included in an export.
- Open Food FactsShare-alike
ODbL share-alike — same reason as OpenStreetMap.
- ICIJ Offshore Leaks DatabaseShare-alike
Share-alike (ODbL / CC BY-SA) plus ICIJ's own terms requiring citation and a no-wrongdoing disclaimer. Selling offshore-leaks entities as sales leads also carries defamation risk, so these rows are excluded from exports.
- Colombia RUES (Registro Único Empresarial)Share-alike
CC BY-SA share-alike — incompatible with proprietary export.
- Québec Registraire des entreprises (REQ)Non-commercial
CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 — the NonCommercial clause bars selling this data in any form. Quebec REQ rows are excluded from every export.
- ICANN Centralized Zone Data Service (CZDS)Contractual terms
The signed Zone File Access Agreement prohibits using zone data to support marketing to anyone other than the user's existing customers, and prohibits redistribution except inside a product that does not permit extraction of a substantial portion of the data. A lead-export feature is exactly that extraction, so CZDS-sourced domains are excluded from exports.
- WhoisDS Newly Registered DomainsContractual terms
WhoisDS terms state 'NO REDISTRIBUTION: You may NOT redistribute our data to other parties.' Exporting these domains would breach that, so they are excluded from exports.
- CAIDA AS-to-Organization MappingContractual terms
The CAIDA AUA grants a licence to copy, modify and use the data but 'no license… for any other purpose', routes commercial use through UC San Diego, and requires citation. Commercial redistribution is not licensed, so CAIDA rows are excluded from exports.
